About us

The Play Shelter is a childcare organisation that began in February 2001 as a response to the requests and needs of parents for quality and affordable childcare during school holidays.

The Play Shelter provides Ofsted registered childcare provisions that enable Parents/carers who work or study to access affordable childcare which is of good quality, offers good value for money and provides an excellent range of activities for children to enjoy.

The Play Shelter provides February and October Half Term, Easter and Summer holiday schemes within London based primary schools. Our schemes are of high quality and are accessible through good value.

Parents recognise the personal, social and emotional benefits that children gain through informal educational activities and are fully aware that interaction with other children is a significant aspect of a child’s development.

As a result, more and more schools and parents are using The Play Shelter’s services. Our fundamental purpose is to structure and extend informal play opportunities for children aged 4 to 12 years, whilst maintaining a safe and stimulating play environment.

The Play Shelter also provides a range of services for schools and childcare organisations.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Play Shelter provides high quality Play provisions that are accessible, free from unacceptable levels of risk, yet stimulating and challenging.

We provide a program of activities, using a qualified staff team that extends children’s learning through fun experiences and varied educational opportunities, whilst recognising and responding to children’s individual needs.

All children are encouraged to make choices and learn good practices through interaction with other children and adults to develop socially, physically, morally, intellectually, emotionally and creatively.

The Play Shelter provides safe and reliable childcare within the constraints of appropriate facilities and resources so that parents/carers have peace of mind when their child/children are in our care.
