postheadericon Holiday Play Schemes

Our February half term, Easter, Summer and October half term holiday play schemes operate in various London primary schools from 8.00 am – 6.00 pm (or until 6.30 pm for parents choosing the Extended Day option) and are designed to provide ‘built-in’ play experiences and informal learning opportunities for children aged 4 - 12 years. We employ qualified and experienced play leaders to stimulate children’s interests in activities and encourage any emerging skills. Where play is distinct from school because of its voluntary nature of involvement, importance lies in children making choices about what they do. This key factor makes The Play Shelter a unique and enjoyable experience for children. we also provide a Pick up and Return service to and from holiday schemes from various designated pick up points. Details of this service are advertised prior to each scheme. Please see Useful info for additional details

Activities

The Play Shelter Holiday Schemes provide enjoyable activities that stimulate children and enhance their development. These planned activities are known as informal educational strategies which we use to enhance children’s social, emotional, physical, creative and cognitive skills. Our fundamental purpose is to structure and extend informal play opportunities that promote learning for children whilst developing a variety of skills. We provide a structured programme of activities ranging from indoor/outdoor sports, dance, drama, music, film-making and arts & crafts and we also employ specialist tutors for singing and African drumming activities. Our programme of activities celebrates a variety of cultures and traditions and is led by a team of trained and experienced play professionals. Amongst the variety of activities we provide there are a wide range of outings, events and trips available to children.

Outings

A wide variety of exciting outings are available throughout the schemes including Go-Karting, Seaside trips, theme parks, Swimming, rollers-skating, Cinema, Horse riding and Bowling, amongst others. Risk assessments are conducted for each outing destination to assess the suitability of the environment for children aged 4 - 12 years. A mini bus with seatbelts and comfortable seating is provided to transport the children to each destination.
